LYNX

Jacob & I took a ride uptown tonight on the Lynx. He LOVED it. The circus is in town so we went up to watch the animals march to the arena. It was susposed to start at 6:30 pm. We got down there in plenty of time (I snuck out of work a tad bit early) and as we walked toward the start of the route we heard that it was delayed until 7:30 pm.... so we kept walking and when we got to the starting point....we heard that the cops had just come by and said it was not 8:30 pm.

So we headed back to the Lynk station and rode home.

Jacob looking out the window on the way to uptown.

Sitting at the station waiting to come home.

We will try again next year. Hopefully he will be able to sit still long enough next year to actually go to the circus!!

He thinks it is fun to open the trash can. Now I just need to teach him to put trash in it!!

Watching a DVD

We found a DVD that Jacob LOVES!! It was the FREE one that came with his Little People that he got for Christmas.

He found himself a new chair to watch it from!!

Yes that is his wagon with the side rails removed!! Silly Boy!!

SNOW!!!

We got a tab bit of snow overnight! Just enough to make the roads slick. Jacob & I are off to a slow start for work and daycare today. We want to give the roads enough time to clear up before we head out. So, we spent the morning sledding and playing in the snow.

OK Mommy... I'm ready to go out and play!!!

This is all he did when I put him down in the snow. He just stood there! He didn't try to sit down or crawl around.

We tested out the sleed in the driveway and he seemed to like it. Jacob would fall over when he started moving. When we tried out the street by our house, I laid him down on his back and he LOVED it. He slid down the hill a few times and just giggled the entire way. I don't have pictures of this b/c I didn't want to chase him down the hill holding onto the camera too (that was an accident waiting to happen)

An anti-nap weekend

Jacob has been anti-nap this weekend. NO nap yesterday. He finally went to bed at 6pm and slept until 2:30 am. We got up and had some milk and he laid in bed with me for a bit. He finally went back to sleep around 3:30 am and slept until 7:20 am.

Today... much of the same. No nap (even tried car rides) until about 4 pm. He slept until 5:15 pm, got up and ate dinner then laid in my lap on the couch until I put him back to bed around 6 pm. Hopefully he will sleep all night. He was SO worn out this evening.

Matt & I are looking forward to our dinner out alone next weekend. It is Restaurant Week in Charlotte so Poppy is going to come over and keep an eye on Jacob (he should be in bed prior to us leaving) while we go out to dinner. I am SO excited. We have a reservation at Mickey & Mooch at 8 pm. BTW... have I said how much I love living 5.5 miles from Poppy!!

Company Re-Org!

Last week was the BIG announcement at work regarding the re-organization. I was asked to fly up to Toronto for the announcement along with my co-worker who also works in the U.S. I was to get in LATE on Monday night and meet my boss at the office at 6:15am prior to the announcement at 7 am. My co-worker flew in earlier on Monday and was heading to the office to work for a few hours.

When he got there, he got laid off. Hmmm... It was a horrible flight up there. I couldn't sleep with worries that night.

Luckily, I was spared the layoff. My official job duties will slightly be changing with the merger and re-org, including a new boss. I will only be responsible for the US divisions. Our company almost doubled in size of the number of plants that we support. (From 10 to 18) 10 of those are mine in the US. I am very excited about my new and expanded role for the upcoming year.

We are very thankful that we are now living by family and have that support and help when we need it. Yia-Yia came and spent the night with Jacob last week while I traveled to Toronto since Matt needed to be out of town at the same time.

Trip to Greenville

Jacob & I went to Greenville with Poppy last weekend for Uncle Matt's birthday!! We had a blast. I think it had been about 5 years since I have been to Greenville. So much has changed!!

We had to go to UBE to get a few t-shirts and a picture...

Uncle Matt was teaching Jacob how to play X-box!!

Jacob loved cuddling with Uncle Matt.

Savannah had a great time playing with Jacob too!!

Growing Boy & Doctor Appointments

I think Jacob must be growing b/c he is eating SO MUCH!! All he wants to do is eat and sleep. Our sitter is amazed at how much food the little guy can eat. He has been taking 2 naps the last few days instead of one longer one and he is sleeping great at night. Tonight he seemed tired so I laid him in his crib at 6:15 and not one single peep out of him. The last few nights he has gone down SO easy!! I hope this trend continues. I'm not having to rock him, lay down with him, or even hold him. I can lay him down wide awake and he his not even making a single peep. He has even been playing and talking to himself in the mornings for at least 30 minutes before I get him up. I've been getting him after 30 minutes b/c we need to get moving not b/c he wanted me to get him up.

We went back to the ENT yesterday for a 2 week check of his ears after having the tubes put in. His right ear was still infected. The left one looked great. We are to continue with the drops for 10 more days and will see the doctor again at the end of the month.

Jacob got his second dose of the flu shot today. He did great.

Jacob & I are heading to Greenville this weekend to see Matt for his birthday! It should be a great weekend!

Bottle Free Day #2

We are finally ditching the bottle. Jacob has done well with the sippy cup and we should have ditched it prior to now but with all the stress of the move and him always being sick it was not worth it. That was my goal over the holidays while I was off work.

Yesterday morning he cried and SCREAMED and threw a fit for his bottle but he eventually calmed down and drank his milk from his sippy cup. As the day went on he ask for his bottle a few times but no more tears.

This morning... no tears- just straight to the sippy cup. I have hidden all the bottles and once I'm sure we are really off the bottle I will pack them up.

Great job Jacob. We will work on the passy next. I could not make him do both at the same time!!
