Merry Christmas!!!

We had a wonderful Christmas in our new house and in the South. I would say that I miss the cold and snow but I might get smacked... We loved being closer to our families and not have to travel all over the state to see everyone for a day.

Merry Christmas!!

Ear Infection # 8 & Tubes!!

Jacob's ear was infected yet again. He came home Tuesday from his Grandmothers running a fever. We did the tubes this morning and it was successful!! We were out of the hosptial by 9 am and by 9:30 he was at home playing. This afternoon was not so pleasant as he didn't have a nap all day and he finally crashed after having a few crying fits.

We are hoping that he wakes up to go to church tonight. But after the day we've had, I'm not waking him up until he's ready.

We are ready for Santa to come see us tonight!!

Visit with Santa

We finally took Jacob on Saturday to visit with Santa. We tried last weekend but the wait was 3 hours... We waited about 1 1/2 hours and by that time... Jacob was tired and hungry. We tried him alone with Santa but he wanted me.

Then he screamed...

Then I sat with Santa and Jacob on my lap and he did a bit better but it was not his favorite activity.

Jacob has gone to spend a few days with his Grandmother before Christmas so we could get a few things done around the house. We finally got our tree this morning and hope to have it up and decorated by tonight. It might actually feel like Christmas around here by the end of the weekend.

#7

Yep, we are on Ear Infection #7. Jacob has had a few rough nights so we went back to see the ENT today since she wants his ears as clear as possible for the surgery next week. Mommy was correct with the diagnosis of another ear infection.

We haven't slept for the last 3 night. I'm tired, he's tired and we are both ready for the next 2 (maybe 3) weeks off. I will know by the end of the week if my office will open back up on the 5th or the 12th of January.

We are also ready for Daddy to be back home on Friday!!

1st Haircut

We took Jacob today for his much needed 1st Haircut.

"I'm ready mommy"

"Not so sure about this blue thing"
"This isn't so bad"
The girl cutting his hair did a great job with him.
Dad had to help keep him sitting...
And so did Mommy...
"I don't like this anymore!!!!"

"Don't I look cute?"

Hardwood Floors

They came Friday to replace our hardwoods that were damaged with our sewer issues. They ran out of wood so they didn't get it all torn up. Now they have to come back and do it again!! It created such a mess!!

Updates

Saturday... our plumbing was fixed, Matt got a few sets of blinds hung up, Jacob threw up all over me again. The day didn't go as planned.

Sunday... I woke up at 3 am sick, Jacob woke up at 4 am wanting to play. Matt went to bed around 1 am. Matt got Jacob duty. I came downstairs at 7:45 am to find a half eaten Vanilla Waffer on the floor and my two sweet guys alseep on the couch.

Matt did a great job caring for Jacob on Sunday so I could be sick in peace. But he had to go back to Atlanta, so Dad came over to help out on Sunday night. He spent the night in case Jacob needed someone to play with at 4 am and I could get a good night sleep.

We ended up taking Jacob to urgent care on Sunday night... they did a belly x-ray that showed he had a TON of gas...

Monday... The sitter's kid is now vomiting (sorry Sean) so Jacob and I got to spend another day together. The Urgent Care called and stated that when the radiologist read the x-ray they noted that there was possible pneumonia and we needed to go see the pediatrician immediately. So off to meet the new doctor. They got us in immediately. Doctor stated it was well treated since he was already on the antibiotics from his ear infection. His lungs sounded clear. He has had no signs of Pneumonia.

Matt came down with our "bug". He is in Atlanta, sick in the hotel with no one to take care of him. I'm sure he is glad that he came home for the weekend!!

Tuesday... Landscapers fix our yard. Jacob goes back to the sitter and has a rough day so I go get him at 1:30. We cuddled, went for a walk, and hung out until dinner. After dinner, he seemed to be back to his normal self- chasing the cats around the house. I am hoping tomorrow is a better day. I think he has figured out that we are not going home is needing some time to adjust.

House Drama

Last I did a load of laundry and noticed that it had flooded the half bath downstairs. Then I attempted flushing a toilet upstairs and it did the same... So I'm thinking we have a problem. After I call Matt, clean up the mess... I call the plumber. We had a horrible time contacting anyone from the warranty department for our "emergency" so we used the restroom at the gas station and the plumber arrived this morning.

He used the camera to see what the problem was... thinking that something was stuck or there was a broken pipe.

So he began to dig up our yard...

He missed on the first hole so he kept looking. They could not bring out a back hoe b/c the emergency gas locate people don't work on the weekends (so much for emergency service). Another hole and lots of thinking later....

The problem was found. A HUGE hole in the pipe. One of the contractors must have busted it prior to our closing and didn't tell anyone (gee thanks!!) The dirt had formed a exit for the water until I washed the clothes then it collapsed causing the backup in our house.

So now we have a torn up front yard and the landscapers will be coming this week to fix and a lot of ruined hardwood floors. Those should also hopefully be fixed this week. But the good news is I don't have to use the restroom at Burger King or BP anymore :)
Jacob is still sick. After laying on me for several hours looking pathetic, he puked all over me again which seemed to make him feel better. Jacob also gave the virus to Poppy when he came over to help out on Friday (Sorry Poppy). Matt is in the process of going to check on Poppy and take him some Ginger Ale to help some. Crossing my fingers that Matt does not get it as he has to drive back to Atlanta tomorrow!!

New Toy Box

Poppy came over last night to have dinner with us and bring over Jacob's birthday present. Thanks Poppy for the great Toy Box. We love it.

Jacob seemed to have a stomach bug- he threw up for poppy on his high chair then after Poppy left he proceeded to puke all over himself, me and the couch. So Poppy came over and watched him for most of the day so I could work. I couldn't exactly do a video conference with Jacob in the background! Thanks for helping out Poppy!!
Jacob seems to be feeling much better today!!

ENT

We went to see the ENT today about Jacob's ears. He has had 6 ear infections in 6 months. It is time for tubes. December 24th. She wanted to do it sooner so he does not get another infection between now and then but I don't want to do it while Matt is in Atlanta so she said we could wait until he is home for Christmas.

Moving & Ears

We have gotten moved into the new house!! The movers delivered the furniture on Monday and it is so nice to be able to sleep in our beds again!! Jacob came over to the empty house on Sunday so he could check out his new bathroom and his room. We decorated his bathroom in a Monkey theme!! He loves it!!

He crawled around his empty bedroom. It is HUGE compared to the last house!!

He even checked out the closest!!

Monday should have been his first day at the new sitters but when we picked up Jacob from his grandmother on Sunday he seemed to be not feeling very well and then we were up all night on Sunday night. So we went to Urgent Care on Monday morning and he has another ear infection (different ear from 3 weeks ago) We started on the Antibotics yesterday. Last night was another rough night but am hopeful that tonight is much better b/c I am worn out!!
We did go to the new sitters today and she is wonderful!!! Jacob had a great 1st day and didn't even cry when I left. I think he is really going to be happy at the new sitters although I'm sure he will miss his old friends!!

Bite Marks

Jacob fell today at the sitters and he was upset. He was sitting on the sitters lap and a little girl who is about 18 months came over and said "I give him hug & kiss" so it was honest enough and the sitter didn't think much about it. She gave him a hug then planted one on his cheek. He didn't scream only made a whimper to clue in the sitter that the little girl had her teeth clinched into the side of his face. It didn't even seem to phase him. The sitter felt horrible and was apologizing as soon as I walked in the door.

See the teeth marks on his face.. Can't wait to see what it looks like tomorrow!!

Since daddy had a dinner for work tonight... we had pizza. Jacob loved it!!

1 year old check up

Jacob had his 1 year old check up yesterday. It was scheduled for last week but with him being sick the doctor wanted to wait until yesterday.

Weight- 20 lbs 12 oz
Height- 29.9 inches
Head- 19 inches

50th percentile in all areas.

He received 5 shots including the flu vaccine. We didn't get the HIB shot due to a national shortage and will have to make that one up.

Jacob also got Labs for a CBC and Lead and hopefully those will come out fine!

His ear was still not 100% but it should continue to heal and his throat was still irritated but his eating habits have picked up so she was not worried. She wants us to have his ear checked in 30 days once we are in Charlotte and discuss with our new doctor about a referral to an ENT due to 5 ear infections in 5 months.
