More Christmas Pictures

Helping Jacob open a present from his grandma.

Another Santa Suit Photo.

Matt opening Jacob's new Video Recorder. I will try to post some videos from his new camera later,

Trip to NC

Our trip to NC was wonderful. We left Friday night to drive part of the way. Jacob slept for well over 300 miles. We ran out of gas before he needed to stop (Mom & Dad wanted to stop but didn't want to wake Jacob) We spent the night on the VA/WVA border. The pack and play was at the back of the trunk and the hotel was out of cribs so Jacob slept in a drawer on the floor. (Picture was taken with my cell phone)

We went to Charlotte on Saturday so Matt could hang out with one of his friends and watch the Panthers game. Jacob and I went to Poppy's house for the night.

Sunday- we went to Asheboro to visit Grandma. This picture was taken on Christmas Eve and as you can tell Jacob (& Dad) were not too excited about getting Jacob all dressed up in his Santa Suite that Grandma bought.

Christmas morning- Jacob had a great time opening present (with help of course) and enjoyed Daddy being silly putting a bow on his head.

Chirstmas Afternoon- We went back to Charlotte to spend a few more days with Poppy. Poppy is showing off the sweatshirt that Jacob got him for Christmas. We also got to see a few of my friends who were also in town.

Thursday we left Charlotte to head to Winston Salem to see Grandpa George and a few more of Matt's Friends before heading home yesterday.

The trip home was good but not as great as the one down there. Overall, Jacob did great considering we dragged him over 1600 miles in a week's time. He got to meet a ton of new people. (more pictures to come)

Jacob's First Christmas

Yes we know that Christmas is not until Tuesday but since we are leaving for NC, we had Christmas at our house tonight. (Jacob didn't seem to mind having it early)

Jacob got a few cool toys to play with and a new stuffed animal. (Thanks Uncle Matt)

Daddy enjoyed helping Jacob open his presents!

P.S. Mom and Dad got a few cool gifts too!!

1 Month 3 Days
I could not get any pictures where Jacob had both legs straight. I can't believe how fast he is growing!!

Smiles

Jacob has begun to smile. I've been trying to get one on camera but no luck. This is the closest that I have been able to get so far. His smiles are the BEST!!

The Summerell Men

We had a great visit with Grandpa over the weekend. He might plan his next visit without snow- but he did a good job helping shovel the driveway. Too bad I have not been cleared by the doctor to do anything physical yet!! I don't think this excuse will last all winter though!

Snoozing with Grandpa

Nothing better than snoozing with Grandpa!

Snowy Saturday

It's been snowing pretty hard for the last hour or so. What else is there to do on a snowy Saturday except take a nap on the couch. We are suposed to get a possible of 16 inches (Grandpa George- aren't you glad you came up from NC for the weekend?)
When is it my turn to take a nap? Jacob and I got up early while the boys slept in.

Jacob's new ride

Jacob got a new mode of transportation today. We briefly tested it out and he seemed to like it. We are VERY happy to get the new carrier as we don't want to (and don't have room) haul the stroller to NC with us for Christmas and wanted to have an alternate way to carry Jacob if we go out and about while we are there. Now I just need to practice getting him in/out of it.

Here Comes Santa Clause!!

We went to the mall today to have Jacob's picture taken and guess who we ran into? Santa Clause!! Jacob sat on his lap very briefly. He managed to scream so that the entire mall could hear him (luckly the first set of photos didn't come out) but in the end we got him calmed down and got a cute photo for his First Christmas.

His 3-Week pictures came out good- We will get them back on Dec. 21st!

3 Week Check Up

Jacob is growing like a weed! He had his 3 week check up this morning.

6 Days
Length: 20.9 inches
Weight: 8lbs 1 oz
Head Circumference: 14 1/4 inches

3 Weeks
Length: 22.5 inches
Weight: 9lbs 9 oz
Head Circumference: 15 inches

I knew that he had gained weight in the last two weeks because his clothes are fitting better now... but 1lb 8oz...geez!! There are no concerns that he is getting enough to eat!

The doctor said that he is looking good and his strength/mussle tone is excellent. He did have a bit of thrush in is mouth so he got his tounge painted purple today to help clear that up.

First Snow

Jacob got to experience his first snow today. We had a check-up this morning so we had to go out in the mess. Jacob was so bundled up that I don't think he even realized that it was snowing. It has been snowing all night and is supposed to continue until this afternoon!

Bath Time

Jacob had his first non-sponge bath yesterday and he did great! As you can tell from the first picture he is not sure what to think about the experience just yet.

Jacob and Mom had their first outing alone yesterday. We went on a short trip to the grocery store. Jacob was a complete angel as usual.

Sleep

We hear all of these horror stories about babies up screaming all night, having the days and nights mixed up, new parents only getting 1-2 hours of sleep at night, etc.

We have not had the pleasure of experiencing this yet. Jacob will wake up to eat and get changed then goes right back to sleep. I've been averaging 7-8 hours of sleep every night. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop but so far he is doing great!

Matt is doing great with Jacob. They have found their favorite spot when he gets home from work in the evening. Daddy has even figured out how to not let Abby feel left out (since this used to be her spot) but she has no problems sharing.

First Doctor Appointment

Jacob had his first doctor appointment on Tuesday. He did great.

6 days old:
Weight: 8 lbs 1 oz (already back to his birth weight)
Height: 20.9 inches
Head Circumference: 14 1/4 inches

No more Jaundice problems. The doctor said he was perfect (which we already knew!!)

Welcome Home Jacob

We were finally able to be discharged last night around 8pm. Jacob's jaundice levels had dropped so they let us go home!! Jacob was great as I figured out how to get him into the car seat. He never once fussed and slept the entire way home.

We had a great 1st night at home. We went to bed at 10pm. Jacob woke up to eat at 12:00 am, then went right back to sleep. Again at 3 am, again went right back to sleep. Again at 6:30 am, again went right back to sleep. We then sleep to 8:30 am. Jacob then proceeded to pee on me and spitup all over Matt.

We got plenty of sleep the first night and I feel great this morning. We are going relax today and wait for Yia-Yia to arrive (she is bringing us NC BBQ for dinner-YUM!!). Uncle Matt and Poppy left this morning.

Friday Night Lights

Jacob got to spend Friday night under the phototherapy lights. His Jaundice leves had increased on Friday night so they put him under the lights around 8:30 pm. They did bloodwork this morning to check his levels but we don't have those results in yet. Hopefully, the lights do the trick and we can still head home today!

Visitors

Poppy and Uncle Matt came up to visit!!

Newest Carolina Panthers Fan

Everything is going well with my recovery! I actually feel great today. My doctor said she would release me today but Jacob is not able to be released yet, so I will be staying another night also. They are watching him for Jaundice. His levels this morning were close to being too high. They will redo his labs tonight when he hits 48 hours old and again in the morning. If his levels continue to climb then he will have to undergo phototherapy. Hopefully they will go down over the next few hours!!

Jacob arrived last night via C-section. Both mom and baby are doing well. We had a bit of a scare around 4pm when his heartrate dropped. My doctor called an emergency C-Section. I was ready for surgery when she arrived and the nurses had gotten him stable so she wanted to hold off a bit on the surgery while he was monitored further. At 6 pm, I was not progressing like she would like to see and she did not want to use drugs to help me dilate due to the fact of his heartrate dropping (without drugs earlier) so the doctor felt it was best for the baby to deliver him via a non-emergency C-Section immediately.

I was wheeled into the OR at 7pm and Jacob arrived 21 min later. Matt was able to hold him immediately and was able to go to the nursery with him. After they closed me up, I had to lay in my room with a recovery nurse for an hour before they would bring Jacob in. I was finally able to hold Jacob a little before 9 pm. The hardest part of the surgery was not being able to hold him immediately.

Everything went well (although not as we had planned) and I am recovering well. They had me just get out of bed this morning to go to the restroom and I thought it would be better to start walking the halls. So as of noon today, I have made 2 different walks of the halls. I'm a bit slow moving but overall I feel better than expected.

We will be released from the hospital on Saturday. My dad & brother will be up tonight until Sunday. Matt's mom will be coming up on Sunday for the week. She will have the pleasure of cooking us Thanksgiving!!

Induction Set!! Wednesday 7 am

My induction has been set for tomorrow at 7 am!

The process was started at today's appointment by inserting a Foley Bulb. (Foley bulb: A Foley catheter, typically used to drain the bladder, has an inflatable bulb at the tip to hold it in place. For labor induction, a 30cc bulb is placed in the cervix and inflated. Mechanical stretch can cause reflex uterine contractions and force dilation to about 3 centimeters. In some situations, saline is infused through the catheter, which can help separate the membranes from the uterine wall, releasing hormones and phospholipases. ) If the bulb falls out tonight or I start having strong contractions- I can go to the hospital tonight- If not, the hospital will see us at 7 am to get started using pitocin!

Needless to say- I'm a bit uncomfortable right now but it will all be worth it once I get to hold my little miracle tomorrow (lets hope he arrives tomorrow and not too long of a labor)

We will get some pictures posted once he is here safe and sound!!

Yep, still pregnant! Doctor appointment is Tuesday at 10:45 am.

4 days to go (or LONGER)

My appointment went well this morning. The doctor said everything looks good but the baby is just a bit too comfortable where he is. He is not ready to be born yet. I have dilated a tad bit since my last appt but still only fingertip/1 cm- but that is all of the changes. My body is not ready to be induced yet. So she scheduled an appoitnment for next week (11/13) and if he has not arrived by then we will induce next week. I'm hoping for early in the week so she said to bring my bags with me to the appt (just in case) So worst case- we will have him by the end of next week!

I've still got my fingers crossed that he will come on his own by the end of this week (but not holding my breath)! I plan to do lots of walking this week to see if we can get things moving. (excpet it is cold here and they are calling for snow and snow/rain mix tonight/tomorrow) Maybe I will go to the mall tonight and do some good walking or sit on the couch and gain some more weight!!

38 weeks 3 day

NOTHING!!

Still 0 dilation and no thinning out! Guess I'm gonna be pregnant forever! The doctor was very aggressive during the exam to try to get some contractions started but so far...nothing!

So I have an appointment for next Tuesday and I'm sure that I will make it to that appointment. She won't "let" me go but a few days past my due date. She did say that next week if my body is showing any progress we can talk about setting a date! I'm really hoping that I don't make it to next week!

So not much of an update! Still Pregnant! Come on little one- I'm ready to meet you!!

37 Weeks 3 Days

Here is a picture from today's ultrasound. Isn't he SO cute? He's got some chubby cheeks on him! Everything looks good. His measurements have leveled off. His head was measuring a bit big (gonna take after his daddy) but his belly was measuring a bit small. All were within the normal ranges so the doctor was not concerned! The ultrasound estimated (only an estimate) his weight to be 7lbs 2 oz.

The doctor did an internal check- NO progress. Still long & closed. She did say she could say a fingertip dilated if it would make me feel any better! (It didn't)

My weight gain is still at 14 lbs! It is all in my belly! I can still wear some of my pre-pregnancy jeans- I just button them below my belly and they fit just fine!

My next appointment is next Tuesday and we are hoping for some sort of progress by then!

36 weeks and counting.....

I do not have a doctor appointment this week :( At my appointment last week, everything looked good. The doctor did the first internal check and we had no progress yet. I was happy to hear that since Matt was out of town. Matt is in Michigan again this week!

I go on 10/23 to have an ultrasound and I will see the doctor afterwards. She wants to check the size of the baby again to ensure that he is not getting too big!

Whenever the baby is done baking and ready to come... I'm ready! I've been cramping a lot for the last several days, I'm tired and ready to meet my little guy!! We have company coming the next 2 weekends (Laura this weekend and Matt's dad the following)- Our house is a mess and I have no energy to get it cleaned up! I hope they don't mind a little clutter- with Matt not being here this week- I'm not sure it will be perfect before Laura gets here on Saturday!

I'll post an update after my ultrasound next week!!

35 Weeks

We have 5 weeks to go and Matt is leaving today to go out of town for 2 weeks! He will be in Lansing for the next 2 weeks! He will be coming home for the weekend and is only 3 hours away should I need him (I'm sure he could probably get home in less than 3 hours if need be). We have our child birthing class at the hospital next Saturday! The breastfeeding class is tomorrow night!

This picture was taken yesterday at 35 weeks after a wedding! I look huge! (but as of last Thursday- I have only gained 14lbs)

I go back to the doctor on Tuesday and will start having weekly appointments from here on out!

The baby's room is just about done. We have a few finishing touches to do but that is it! I'm so happy to have it done now if I can just get the rest of the house cleaned up!!

Baby's First Teddy Bear

Matt & I went to Build-a-Bear Workshop this weekend to build Baby Summerell his very first Teddy Bear. The Teddy Bear is perfect. He is soft and cuddly and I'm sure that the baby will love it for many years to come. Matt named the Teddy Bear Webster since that was the name of his first one too!

Less than 6 weeks to go until we get to meet Baby Summerell!!

Weekend in Michigan

We went to Michigan over the weekend to have a little celebration with our good friends from our old neighborhood to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our little one. We had such a great time seeing everyone and hanging out. We did our usual weekend activity of playing poker. I took 2nd place on the first game (I knocked Matt out first!!)and 3rd place on the 2nd game. I probably could have done better on the last game had it not been after 3am and I was exhausted!

We also went shopping to buy a few things that we still needed since we do not have a Target or Babies R Us very close to our house. I am going to start working on getting the babies room organized and finished tonight. I will post some pictures when I get it cleaned up!
